Improve your matching results! Mysteries of Triptrotting’s matching bar

By: Triptrotting Team

Every wonder what that yellow bar under or next to everyone’s profile represents?  We’d like to call it your “like-mindedness bar” or your “compatibility” percentage or your…got a better name?  It basically compares you to every Triptrotter in the community and let’s you see how “like-minded” or “compatible” you are with him/her.

We’ve enlisted the help of Galen Buckwalter, the prior Chief Scientist of eHarmony, to help us match you with someone you are interested in meeting.  Now we are not here to find you the love of your life but it’s a good measurement to help you determine if you have things in common with others before meeting up.

What can the Match Bar do for you?

1) Help break the ice.  Message a Triptrotter and say: “Looks like we have a LOT in common”

2) See your match percentage with new friends and current friends on Facebook

3) It’s fun to see who you have things in common with… and who you do not…in different countries all over the world

We are adding new questions often and the more you answer, the more accurate your match results.  Besides, you get to learn more about yourself while you answer these thought provoking questions!

Triptrotting is a global community of world travelers and local hosts (aka "Triptrotters"), who are matched together based on compatibility. Whether you are going to study abroad, traveling for work or adventure seeking in a new country, having a local friend can go a long way. Our online platform and our proprietary matching algorithm will guide and suggest compatible local hosts for you that you would actually be interested in meeting based on factors such as your interest and personality.
